This is after one year and about 10,000 miles. I’m wondering if the dealer actually replaced it when they said they did. The one on my Mazda goes twice as long and is not nearly as dirty.

That’s not out of the realm of possibility for a 10,000 mile filter if you drive in a lot of dust and stuff.
I’m tempted to think they didn’t actually change it though.

FWIW, I’ve noticed that my Subaru filters tend to get dirtier over my regular 10k interval than other cars I’ve owned. I haven’t really given much thought to why considering they are cheap and easy to change.

I do my cabin and engine air filters every year in February. I have done a couple in friends cars and have been disturbed by what they look like after 10 years and no change. Fun fact Crown Vic’s don’t have cabin filters.
